Pad Thai

Pad Thai Best Recipe

Pad thai (or the rather cooler phat thai, since the official transliteration has it) is a global ambassador for the glories of Thai food these easy stir-fried rice noodles are almost certainly one of the best-known examples of Thai cuisine globally. Expats assert to utilize it as a bellwether for the caliber of a restaurant they probably understand how to cook, if the kitchen gets the pad thai right.

Quite a claim for a dish that is not neither very Thai nor very conventional – that the dish full name, kway teow pad thai, or “stir-fried rice noodles, Thai-style” hints at its likely southern Chinese roots (kway teow apparently means rice noodles in the Hokkien dialect), and it’s considered to have been popularised, and possibly devised, by Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram from the 1940s as a part of his effort to foster a sense of national identity.
